Colorado River Compact

Delph Carpenter helps broker the Colorado River Compact, a multistate agreement for sharing water in the Colorado River. As a result of this and other agreements, Coloradans consume only one-third of the water that flows from their state today.

The Colorado River Compact

Carpenter's copy of the official Colorado River Compact (1922). The Commission agreed on a final draft November 24, 1922, which was ratified by six states and the federal government in 1929. Arizona ratified it in 1944.
