Ute Reservation and Summit Springs

A reservation is created in western Colorado for the Ute people, who are forced out of Front Range mining districts. The Cheyenne Dog Soldiers are defeated at Summit Springs in eastern Colorado, solidifying US control over the territory.

Buffalo Bill Reenacts Summit Springs Battle

William "Buffalo Bill" Cody served as chief scout for the Republican River Expedition that tracked and defeated Tall Bull's Cheyennes. For many decades he made a reenactment of the Battle of Summit Springs the climax of his Wild West Show.
