Weimer was hired in his current position in 1988. Because of the nature of the cultural resources in eastern Colorado, he quickly developed a passion for historical archaeology. As a generalist, though, he has experience in Midwestern, Southwestern and Plains prehistory. Weimer also has an enduring interest in ancient civilizations and has worked on tells and a Roman site in the Middle East. His graduate work centered on the Maya. In addition to these geographic and culture area interests, he enjoys the challenge of Section 106 compliance and adverse effect resolution.
